How To Make Makeup At Home

Right from a young age we’ve all gone through the dress-up phase, be it pirate or princess, clown or rabbit. To me, makeup is just our grown up way of playing dress-up every day. These days makeup has become an essential in millions of people’s lives all around the world but, it is in no way cheap and often mixed with chemicals that may not agree with our skin. This is why I’ve put together a list of different ways on how to make makeup at home!

Here’s How To Make Makeup At Home:

1. DIY Beauty Blender

A perfect replacement for an expensive beauty blender is a micro-fiber cloth! It is cheap and works just as well as a beauty blender. Best part? You can even throw it in the machine to be washed.

2. DIY Lipstick

We all have a pack of crayons lying around at home, it might yours (shhh, I still color too) or your siblings, or maybe even your child’s.

Take your crayons and get creative.

Heat up some coconut oil and add some crayon shavings to it until it melts and you gain the desired color.

Once it is ready, pour it into an empty lip balm container, let it cool and you’re done!

3. DIY Matte Lipstick

Easy-peasy! Put that cash away girl. Here’s all you need – blush or a little corn flour. Just put your lipstick on as usual and then dab a little blush or corn flour on it. It will the appearance of you wearing matte lipstick.

4. DIY Contour

I know, I  know, you’ve been waiting to try out contouring for ages but never had enough money to put out to buy contouring sticks; besides liquid and cream foundation don’t work too well in our kind of weather here in India.

Here’s all you need – flour, cocoa powder, and coffee. Use it as you would for powder contouring. It’s super cheap and also works like magic!

5. DIY Body Glitter

Clubbing tonight? Need that body glitter on you because you’re feeling that ‘Kesha’ vibe tonight? Get some fine glitter from the nearest craft store and some aloe vera gel. Mix them together and apply.

The aloe Vera gel doesn’t just help the glitter stick but, is also really good for the skin.

6. DIY Highlighter

Instagram is going crazy with all these gorgeous ladies and their gorgeous highlighters and here we are with empty pockets and sad faces. Time to shine ladies!

Grab some scented spray, rubbing alcohol, a translucent eyeshadow of your choice and a slighter bolder eyeshadow. Mix it together and empty the product into a container. Let it dry and you’re done!

7. Makeup Brush Cleaner

Imagine being able to wash away all that foundation, eye shadow, powder, concealer and other makeup products on your brush with some simple items. Here’s what you need –

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 10 drops of tea tree oil and lavender oil.

Mix it all together and wash your brushes out. Finally, let them dry overnight.

8. Eyebrow Filler

Many of us weren’t born with the privilege of great bushy eyebrows (I know I wasn’t), which is why we are forced to fill in ours. But, buying pencils every few weeks or months (depending on how often you use it) can drain your pocket quite fast. It’s also hard to find a shade that matches well enough. This is why for quite some time now I’ve opted for the cheaper option, that offers a wider color choice – eye shadow!

Using an angled brush just dab a little eye shadow on it, and draw it on. You have great control over how much product is applied and it can be easily corrected with a little foundation or concealer.
