Homemade hair masks

With less than 20 minutes of application on average, hair masks can provide your mane with lots of health and aesthetic benefits. Just like conditioners, masks serve as a potent remedy to boost hair growth, hydrate the scalp, and strengthen each hair strand. The ingredients you need can easily be purchased in a supermarket, provided to us by Mother Nature, of course. Just remember to supply yourself with necessary kitchen utensils and the newest hair clips and accessories – and you are ready to roll!

Our recommended hair mask recipes

Coconut oil & honey

Coconut oil has many purposes, ranging from cooking and improving digestion to hormone support and cosmetics. The oily contents keep the hair soft and hydrated, preventing any possibilities of breakage. Honey, on the other hand, is ideal for boosting hair volume and restoring its luster.

  1. Mix a tablespoon of coconut oil with a tablespoon of honey
  2. Heat up the mixture until it melts
  3. Once cool, apply on the hair and cover with a shower cap
  4. Keep it for 15-20 minutes
  5. Wash off with lukewarm water

Coconut oil & cinnamon

Cinnamon is known for its antimicrobial properties, which can aid in hair growth, preventing dandruff, hair loss, and promoting circulation to the scalp, which helps the hair grow strong. Each strand of hair requires sufficient blood supply to develop properly so it is no wonder why cinnamon is frequently used for hair restoration.

  1. Mix a tablespoon of coconut oil with a teaspoon of cinnamon
  2. Apply the mixture on your scalp, not the hair
  3. Give your head a gentle massage
  4. Tie your hair and cover it with a shower cap
  5. Rinse hair with regular shampoo and conditioner after about 45 minutes
  6. Repeat on a weekly basis for better results

Egg & lemon

Eggs contain high amounts of Vitamin A, D, and E, proteins, and fatty acids – all of which contribute to restoring the hair its luster. Hair strands are, after all, proteins, so this influx of nutrients will greatly boost their health and longevity. Apart from scrambling, boiling, or poaching eggs, you can also use them to effectively condition your hair.

Lemons, on the other hand, absorb any excess grease, keeping your hair smooth and clean. Vitamin C is used to give support to follicles, and the compound Limonene will restore dull hair like a charm. Additionally, lemon is also used to stave off any fungal infections and excess dandruff.

  1. Extract the yolk and put it in a bowl
  2. Squeeze one half of a lemon
  3. Mix until the consistency becomes smooth
  4. Dampen the hair and apply the mixture
  5. Cover the hair with a shower cap and leave it for 30-40 minutes
  6. Wash hair with lukewarm water, shampoo, and conditioner

Yogurt, honey & banana

People with frizzy hair will love this recipe because yogurt’s biotic properties nourish the scalp, help treat the follicles, and provide a fertile ground for new hair to grow. Bananas, on the other hand, contain high amounts of potassium, vitamins, natural oils, and carbs, which trap moisture and tackle the frizzing issues head-on.

  1. Mix a tablespoon of honey, 2 tablespoons of yogurt, and one sliced banana until completely blended
  2. Apply the mixture on a damp hair
  3. Cover with a shower cap
  4. Keep the mask for 30-40 minutes
  5. Wash off with lukewarm water, shampoo, and conditioner

Avocado, honey & coconut oil

The golden ingredient of guacamole recipes isn’t solely used for conscientious dieting. This famous fruit is loaded with organic compounds, which enhance our health and restore our bodies. Avocados include folate, which is necessary for cell repair, as well as Vitamins C, E, and potassium.

  1. Mash the avocado in a bowl
  2. Add coconut oil, honey, and eggs
  3. Apply the mixture on your hair
  4. Let it sit for about 15-20 minutes
  5. Rinse off the mask with lukewarm water
