About the Daily Calorie Calculator
Your maintenance calories are your BMR multiplied by an activity factor. Eating below that creates a deficit and above it creates a surplus.
A deficit of about 550 kcal a day is roughly 0.5 kg of fat loss per week. Aggressive deficits are harder to sustain and may not be safe without supervision.

Many health bodies suggest not going below roughly 1,200 kcal (women) or 1,500 kcal (men) a day without medical supervision.
